Arpana Caur

Arpana Caur a Contemporary Indian Artist was in born 1954. Arpana Caur a self taught artist is a distinguished Indian painter and has been exhibited since 1974 across the globe. Arpana executed a large painting for the Hiroshima Museums permanent collection on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the Nuclear Holocaust. Today her paintings support several projects for the underprivileged: including free vocational training in the Academy of Fine Arts and Literature of which she along with her mother the renowned writer Ajeet Cour is the Founder Member. She supports a leprosy home in Ghaziabad and ration projects for poor and old widows. Arpana has drawn inspiration from her mothers writings - Punjabi folk literature - the Pahari miniature tradition and Indian folk-art motifs.
