Born 1940 Laxma Goud is recognised for his graceful yet powerful line drawings, etchings and watercolours. The artist earned a diploma in drawing & painting from the Government College of Art & Architecture Hyderabad in 1963. He then studied mural painting and printmaking at M.S.University, Baroda. By the late 1960s Goud had developed a distinct style with finely chiseled yet plaint lines & delicate washes of colour that he used to depict man’’s interaction with nature. According to Goud “there is eroticism in nature itself”. From men, women, goats, huts to vegetation Laxma’’s simple images reflect an idyllic reality what is slowly being threatened by urbanization.
