A.V. Ilango A.V. Ilango was born in 1950 in small town in Tamil Nadu. The rural surroundings during his formative years left an indelible impression on him and even now, Ilango uses those memories as inspirations that inform and influence his artworks. His works depict Indian people, culture, religion and rituals presented as part of everyday-life. He enjoys depicting the people - elegant, robust, tanned in the bright Indian sun, dressed in dhotis and saris just like they looked in his old town. His work in warm earthy tones is also a reflection of the rural traditions and bears influences of temple art of his home state, expressing the dynamism and energy of the rustic people.
