Bhavani Katoch

Bhavani Katoch was born in 1956. He studied art at the Government College of Art in Chandigarh, after which he left for France in 1984 on a French Government scholarship to study painting and lithography at the Ecole National des Beaux-arts in Paris.

Bhavani Katoch creates his art with pure pigments and resin binders applying a very thin layer over the half dry layers to get the tones and transparency. Applying colour layers this way helps in seeing one colour through the other like veils. Up to some extent non-mixing of pigments this way keeps alive memory and charm of each colour. Katoch plays with light and colour to convey time and space, stillness and movement.
