Born in 1977, Nilesh Nikam’s meditative paintings evoke a feeling of tranquillity in the viewer. The subject of meditation has always fascinated him and a continuous study into the discipline of meditation has not only developed his strength in the subject but also his skill set in expressing its varied nuances through his work. Mystical motifs, textural play, layered application and Indian traditional motifs are complemented by a vibrant colour palette.

The best part of the paintings is that they do not have a fixed interpretation. While the artist assimilates a bouquet of meditative musings for the viewer, he leaves the viewer to make an individual choice and enjoy the work in his own weeniest explains that his paintings can be used to meditate upon; reiterating the fact that one can meditate anywhere and at any time, allowing oneself the access to a sense of tranquillity and peace irrespective of one’s surroundings.
