Laxma Goud

Laxma Goud was born in Nizampur, Andhra Pradesh in 1940. He graduated with a diploma in drawing from the College of Art and Architecture, Hyderabad after which he studied at the Department of Fine Arts at M S University Baroda from 1963 to 1965 where he learnt under K.G. Subramanyan and was exposed to printmaking and mural painting.

Goud is truly a master of media, having achieved success with oil, acrylic, watercolour, pen, ink, etching and sculpture in bronze and terracotta. Born in Andhra Pradesh, he spent his childhood observing rural tradition and craft, such as leather puppetry and terracotta ornaments. These formative years are reflected in his principal artistic theme—the special earthiness and innocence of rural life in India.
