In Bloom: The Journey by Studio3 at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai

For art enthusiasts in Mumbai, the year 2025 begins on a vibrant, colorful note! Studio3 is proud to unveil the works of 4 decorated artists, on view at Jehangir Art Gallery from January 7-13th. In Bloom: The Journey, curated by Studio3 celebrates the splendour of nature through the eyes of distinguished artists: Ganapati Hegde, Oinam Dilip, Rakhee Shenoy, and Ritu Kamath. Despite the distinct styles of each artist, the collection of Indian paintings underscores harmony, growth, and nature-human synergy as a common thread. This exhibition is a collective journey to pay homage to the personal evolution of featured artists while also paying tribute to the beauty and healing powers of nature.

Ganpati Hegde:

In his artwork, Ganpati Hegde skillfully combines imagination with the striking reality of his coastal Karnataka upbringing. From tranquil forests to vivid seascapes, his works capture the rich diversity of the environments and ecosystems he was exposed to growing up. Hegde uses a vibrant color scheme to depict anything from chameleons to caterpillars, perfectly capturing the essence of nature. Indian mythology is frequently included into his work, where animals represent human characteristics and serve as a reminder of our interconnectedness with nature. By emphasizing the value of nature in our lives, Hegde’s artwork inspires viewers to value and preserve its beauty.

Oinam Dilip:
The rich culture and scenery of Manipur, Dilip’s homeland is the highlight of works in this collection, which is also inspired by the bustling cities of South Asia. His paintings capture the purity and beauty of his homeland through a fusion of realistic and abstract imagery. Dilip tackles topics of human emotion and cultural legacy, and his mastery of color makes his images come to life. His art highlights how humans and the environment are intertwined, illustrating a symbiosis that fosters development and peace. Every composition narrates a tale of the beauty inherent in both personal experiences and societal cultural identity.

Rakhee Shenoy:
Third-generation Indian artist Rakhee Shenoy uses fabrics to creatively convey intricate concepts about life and interpersonal relationships. Handloom weaving, embroidery, painting, and computer processes are all combined in her mixed-media approach to create textured artworks that evoke feelings of familiarity and nostalgia. Shenoy’s inventive approach goes beyond the confines of conventional canvas painting to produce multifaceted works that emotionally connect with spectators. Shenoy’s art highlights how our identities are shaped by inheritance and history by fusing these elements into her artwork. Her artistic path involves constant experimentation with various media, which enables her to express her own vision.

Ritu Kamath:

Through her artwork, Ritu Kamath honors the restorative potential of nature, drawing inspiration from the peace she experienced during the pandemic. Her artwork invites visitors into a serene environment that builds on concepts of inner tranquility by capturing the splendor of verdant woodlands and vibrant flowers. Recurring elements give Kamath’s compositions a sense of continuity while maintaining their individuality. With more than thirty years of drawing and painting skills, she depicts the healing properties of nature with masterful use of ink, watercolors, and shadows. Her artwork acts as a reminder of how crucial it is to reestablish a connection with both our environment and ourselves in order to find equilibrium and renewal.
